Hate your selfie? Here's why you do not need a nose job

Plastic surgeons say that the selfies have led to a boom of work-nosed procedures that are not necessary.

The way we present on social media has a huge impact on how we see ourselves. Sometimes its impact on our body image can be used for good, as a study foundthat the display of your physical fitness and weight loss goals on social media inspires you actually commit to losing excess books. But all these filters and all these filters can also distort our perception of our eyes in a very unhealthy way.

Eco-to-point: According to some plastic surgeons, selfies caused a forest in millennially nose job requests, which do not realize that their noses look larger in the image they do in reality.

"Patients under 40 are coming out of their phones and say they do not like how they look" Dr. Boris Paskhover of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newarksaid to Reuters. "They literally show me a selfie of themselves and complain about their nose. I have to explain that I understand that they are not happy, but what they see is distorted."

According to a recent survey, 42% of surgeons saw patients who wish to obtain procedures specifically for the intention of improving their appearance.

There is a very modern irony that they want to get nose work to get better selfies, when selfies is the thing that deforms their perception of first place.

To have a sense of your face that attributes more or less to reality, Paskhover suggests taking a selfie of five feet that is "a classic portrait distance ... The photographers have known this for decades."

If you hold the camera just a foot of your face, so many people in selfies, studies have shown that the size of your nose will increase by about 30%.

Dr. Cemal Cingi of Eskisehir Osmangazi University in Turkey has a simple solution to the induced selfie distortion that brings as many young patients to his office:

"I speak to patients asymmetries before surgery and literally held them in the hands before planning a procedure."
