You could develop this serious condition if you get coronavirus
There is frightening evidence that Covid-19 causes another serious issue for people before in good health.
It seems that every day makes a new understanding of how Covid-19 functions, including its relations with other diseases and medical conditions - and a condition that continues to be assembled is diabetes. You probably already know thatPatients who contract Covid-19 and already have diabetes are at a high risk of complications and death. But in a new letter toNew England Journal of Medicine,Diabetic experts now say that theCoronavirus can lead to the appearance of diabetes in people previously in good health.
Diabetes experts behind the letter started the COVIDIAB registry project to follow the new-appearing diabetes of CVIV-19 patients. Researchers write that "new-appearing diabetes and severe metabolic complications of pre-existing diabetes, including diabetic cetoacidosis and hyperosmolarity for exceptionally high insulin doses are guaranteed in patients with CVIV-19."
Diabetic acidocetosis Occurs when the patient's body of diabetes is unable to produce enough insulin, which leads to a too high level of ketones, blood acid. Patients with type 1 diabetes are particularly in danger. Hyperosmolarity, orDiabetic hyperosmolar syndrome, most often the effects of patients with type 2 diabetes, and occurs when the blood sugar level is too high. By the Mayo Clinic, it can be "triggered by illness or infection" and "lead to dehydration threatening life" if it is not treated.
So why is theCoronavirus causing these complications And causing new diabetes-appearing in people before healthy? The researchers pose that this relates to how the virus "binds to enzyme 2 receptors (ACE2) converting angiotensin."

What is even more about it is that these diabetes experts do not know yet if theseSymptoms will persist after the recovery of COVID-19Nice if the type of diabetes diagnosed in CIVID-19 patients is type 1, 2 or something quite new. That's why they created the COVIDIAB registry, to compile and analyze data from around the world. These data, the letter indicates, will help physicians identify treatment and management methods in the future.
