While generalized forecasts, including a recentAnthony Fauci, ®, havePeople ready for a vaccine at the end of the year, this excitement can actually be premature. The CEO of the world's largest vaccine manufacturer is recently released with a troubling prediction:A Covid vaccine will not be available for everyone in the world until 2024.
"It's going to take four to five years untilEveryone gets the vaccine on this planet, "Adar Poowalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India, the largest vaccine manufacturer in the world, told theFiscal time in a recent interview.
According toFiscal time, the Serum Institute involved five international pharmaceutical companies inDevelop a Covid vaccine, including a Novavax-based company and the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca.
The institute committed to producing a billion billionCOVID vaccine doses, half of which has already been engaged in India. Unfortunately, Poowalla predicts that this will not be enough. If theCovid vaccine is given in two dosesAs measles, it believes that the world will actually need 15 billion doses of the vaccine. And seeing that no other vaccine, vaccine producers have not yet committed to doing as many doses as the serum institute, it does not seem good from a global point of view.
"I know the world wants to be optimistic about it ... [But] I have not heard of anyone coming even close to this [level] right now," Poowalla said.
Other medical experts gave the impression that a Covid vaccine will be available much earlier.Francis Collins, MD, Director of National Institutes of Health (NIH), said in July that, whereas it was a "extension objective", have aVaccine distributed at the end of the year is the United States aims. And Fuci recently stated that it was a "safe bet" that aThe vaccine would be approved by November or December. But that, of course, does not mean much for the rest of the world.
