The trial found thatTocilizumab reduced the risk of death by 14% compared to patients who received standard care. He also cut the number of patients who were to be placed on a 5% fan.

Most of the patients presented in the test received Tocilizumab in addition to dexamethasone, a steroid that has been demonstrated to benefit from hospitalized patients in Covid.

"Our data suggest that at COVID-19 hypoxic patients with proofs of systematic inflammation, treatment with a combination of systemic corticosteroid plus tocilizumab should reduce the mortality of about one-third for patients receiving a simple oxygen. And almost a half for those who receive an invasive mechanical ventilation, "wrote the researchers.

"Now we can reduce the risk of death by something between about one-third and up to half [compared at the beginning of the last spring pandemic], according to which patients are treated," said Martin Landray, professor. The University of Oxford.
