This Fast Food chain is linked to 40 cases of food poisoning

Officials are still investigating the source.


Forty people reported illnesses after eating an Arby in Springfield, Illinois since February 15, the Department of County Sangamon of Public Health confirmed two local news stations,NewsChannel 20 andWAND 17.

The officials first visited the Arby's restaurant on February 23 after the calls were made at the Ministry of Health. They are then returned on February 24 that the store was closed for deep cleaning. They also visited the next day again, finding problems, but still unable to determine the exact cause of food poisoning. (In touch:McDonald's makes these 8 major upgrades.)

Health and safetyviolations noted on the first visit include: Inappropriate temperatures, such as salt beef, turkey and ham have been kept at temperatures around 45-48 degrees Fahrenheit when they need to be kept at 45 or less; Incorrect dating has been found for chest, gyroscopic meat and corned-beef that should have been scrapped up the day before; Problems of cleanliness, like the upper part of the oven, which is used for store utensils, was visibly dirty dust and debris; and management errors.

Even after cleaning in depth on February 24, the Ministry still finds temperature problems during a visit the next day as "sauces were observed with internal temperatures of 48-50 degrees in the upper part of the preparation cooler,"health officials say. At that time, the investigation is in progress again.
