To our surprise, the choices went well beyond their legendary pizza, with selections in categories, including pasta, salads and desserts.
Here are the worst and the best items you can order from the SBARRO menu (Note: The menu options vary depending on the location).
XL NY Pizza Slices
Best: NY Spinach and Tomato
This tranche has attenuated as one of the best options due to vegetables and lack of meat on top.
"Although this slice is still high in calories, it has at least vegetables that add fibers and nutrients to your slice," says Brod. "As it has no transformed meat, it significantly less fat and sodium content compared to some other slices."
Best: Mushroom NY
The delicious and nutritious mushrooms on this slice make it a good choice.
"It's one of the lowest calorie slices in category XL NY," she says. "You do not add more calories, grease or sodium from additional fittings."
Worse: NY Pepperoni
The large amount of sodium in this slice of meat is what made one of the worst options.
"The American Heart Association Recommends 2,300 milligrams of sodium [by] day for a healthy diet, "Brod says". This pizza slice, which is probably a meal of the day, has more than half of the recommended amount (63%) at 1,459 milligrams of sodium. "Yikes!
Worst: Ny Mom Meat Ball
Although the name "Mama meatball" sounds homemade and inviting, you will better take a pass.
"This slice has one of the highest amounts of calories and saturated fat slices in this category," says Brod, before highlighting the high amount of fat saturated. "The increased contribution of saturated grease can add to therisk of heart disease and other chronic diseases. "

Roman slices
Best: Roman Cheese
Sometimes simple, it's better, and in this case, it sounds true.
"With the size of the serving, the add-ons to meals can do something wrong with worse," says Brod. "Pantyhose with a tranche of classical cheese will probably help eliminate some of the unexpected additives."
Best: Roman Veggie
This fiber packing slice is charged with peppers, onions, fungi and olives, which is ideal because it never hurts to try to enter a vegetable at each meal, according to Brod.
"Even on a pizza slice, you get the nutritional benefits that vegetables have to offer," she says.
Worst: Primo Roman meat
In addition to the high sodium content, "this slice has as many carbohydrates as two average bagels," says Brod. "It's easy to assume that it's a part since it is a slice, but compared to it more like two three portions in terms of carbohydrate content."
Worst: Double Duo Romain Pepperoni
This pizza is not only overloaded by Pepperoni, it is also overloaded with disadvantages of health.
"The double part of the pepperoni on this slice adds a ton of additional calories, grams of fat and milligrams of sodium", explains Brod, before comparing this option to a slice of cheese.
"Compared to a slice of cheese at the top of the head, this has 200 other calories, 17 plus grams of fat (including a double amount of saturated fat) and 700 milligrams of more sodium," she says. "The difference in calories and saturated grease is more than what is in a krispy krispy kreme krispy krispy."
Pasta
Best: White Cheddar Mac & Cheese
Although this meal seems creamy and delicious, it is important to keep in mind that there is not really a clear winner in this category.
"Unfortunately, even" the best "pulp options in this menu is not the healthiest choice in terms of a balanced meal and controlled by a portion," says Brod. "The dishes, including this one, are extremely high in calories, greases and sodium."
Best: Ziti
This ziti could be a better option if there were vegetables included - and if there was not so much sodium.
"In general, pasta can be a perfectly fine dinner option, but I like to make sure I have vegetables with it and I do my best to do not eat too much," says Brod. "Unfortunately, pasta options on this menu, including Ziti, do not provide a lot of variety in terms of nutritional content."
Worst: Parm chicken with baked Ziti
This hearty meal is a great no-no because of its extremely high sodium content.
"This simple dish exceeds the recommended daily sodium quantity. There is a saying that does not put all your eggs in a well of a basket, try not to put all your sodium allowance recommended by your day in a dish. " Says Brod. "Not only will you have other natural sodium sources throughout your day, but you can also have other additional sources. Such a sodium content is generally associated with moreProcessed foods. "
Worse: Ziti with chicken
With a large amount of calories, grease, sodium and carbohydrates, this pasta combo and meat is easily one of the worst menu options.
"The average American consumes 2,000 to 2,500 calories a day. This meal is 60 to 75% of the average consumption of one day," says Brod. "The control of the portions is very hard in the restaurants, especially the channels. You are often supplied with a big part that is usually enough enough food for two, sometimes even three meals. An excellent advice is to ask for a box when your food is delivered and immediately halfway to bring home. "
Salads
Best: Greek salad
This mix of Romaine, cucumbers, red onions, tomatoes, black olives, banana peppers and feta is an excellent choice.
"This salad is a good equilibrium of vegetables, cheese proteins and healthy olives," says Brod. "Add grilled chicken for a good source of lean protein to help you stay fully longer." And when you consume a type of salad, the setting up of the bandage on the side is always preferable for the control of the portions.
"Choose something like olive oil and a balsamic vinegar mixture toAvoid added sugars," she says.
Worse: Sandro's salad Sbarro
This salad is packed with spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, bacon, pepperoni, mozzarella, garlic, croutons and an Italian vinaigrette, which hit the fat and sodium content in this dish.
"Just like pizza fillings can add hidden calories, salad trim cans as well. With Pepperoni, bacon and mozzarella in this salad, it has the same amount of fat as 5 1/2 candy bars Twix ", says Brod. "A healthier salad choice tends to be those with more vegetables, lean protein and healthy greases, unlike the saturated found here. Also, try the dressing on the side so you can control the quantity."
Stromboli
Best: Veggie Stromboli (6 ")
This packed Stromboli Veggie is one of your best options in this category.
"Even for the choice of Veggie, this remains quite high in calories for the size of the portion," says Brod. "However, you do not get calories, grease or additional sodium of fillings."
Worst: Three Meats Stromboli (12 ")
Since this option, which is twice the size of Veggie Stromboli, is loaded with bacon, pepperoni and sausage, it is not surprising that it is packed with calories, grease and sodium.
"Most less healthy features to highlight in this dish are due to the size of the serving when comparing them with Veggie Stromboli," says Brod. "If you opt for the choice of meat, you may have divided half to save on calories, greases and sodium."
Desserts
Best: Tiramisu
"This may be due to the size of the part or the nature of the dessert, but this happens to be a lower calorie option compared to other desserts on the menu," says Brod of theItalian Treat traditional coffee. "The candies always have a place as long as they enter a balanced day and are mined with moderation."
Worst: Cinnamon boards
Although they sound soft and delicious, these forages filled with sugar are also rich in calories.
"At 1 080 calories, this is more calorically dense than even a slice of pizza," she says. "Consider splitting a dessert like this with the table to get your soft solution while unintentionally exceeding."
