This breakfast food changes its packaging
The parent company B & G announced that he was trying to change it in June.
Hot wheat cereal cream boxes are about to look like a bit different after a recent announcement. The name of the man would have been Rastus, who is a derogatory name for a black man. The character is said to be a former slave who could hardly speak English,CNN says.
The new package will make its way on the shelves of the grocery store at the beginning of 2021, according toReuters. "For years, the image of an African American Chef appeared on our wheat packaging cream," said B & G foods in a statement. "While the research indicates that the image can be based on a Chicago leader named Frank White, he recalls some consumers of previous representations that they find offensives. The image was at the front of the box for more than 120 years. However, it used a lot more space and the leader was not used in advertisements from time to time, according toDive.
