Coca-Cola unveils a new bottle

The prototype will influence the future design of bottles for zero waste.

Coca-Cola is constantly testing new packaging solutions to direct the company towards reducing the carbon footprint of their products. And according toThe last report on his innovation laboratory in Brussels,The Soda Giant has created a bottle of first paper type, which could strongly influence the conception of the company's bottle in the future.

Created in partnership withPabocoAn innovative European bottle company, the Coca-Cola prototype consists of a firm paper hull with plastic components. More specifically, the bottle has a recyclable plastic interior to contain liquid and a plastic plug.

The goal, however, is to create a bottle entirely made of paper, according to Stijn Franssen, the Head of Coca-Cola Emea-R & D innovation, working on the project. "Our vision is to create a bottle of paper that can be recycled like any other type of paper, and this prototype is the first step on the road to the realization of that," he said in a declaration. (In touch:9 restaurant chains that have closed hundreds of locations this summer.)

The Franssen team is currently working on standard vigorous quality tests, assessing the prototype performance in the refrigerator and its ability to preserve the contents of the interior.

In 2018, the Coca-Cola Global CEO, James Quincy, announced a revolutionary programWastewill, in which the company aims to collect and recycle the equivalent of each bottle or can sell globally by 2030. While the bottle of paper is in its infancy, it can be to be a promising step towards the realization of this target.
