Who is Caesar Salad's true initiator?

There are actually several men who claim that they have created it and none of them are Julius Caesar.

Caesarsalad is really an omnipresent steakhouse staple, a seemingly simple and satisfying combination of Romaine, parmesan, croutons and creamyPad (with or without raw egg and anchovy). But where does it come from? Who thought coming with this delicious combination? Was it in fact a man named Caesar? Well, his origins can surprise you.

Hail-or rather, hello-caesar.

Think that Caesar salad was named for former Romain leader Julius Caesar? Nope, it's just a myth that many of us have just supposed that it seems. This famous salad was actually made in Tijuana, Mexico, in the twenty roar by an Italian immigrant, César Cardini, who landed on the way of Canada and the United States.

When Caesar moved to Canada as a teenager, he had already raised an impressive experience of experiences working inEuropean Hotels and Cuisines. By the time he was at the beginning of his twenties, he was heading for California and opened his first restaurant (short-term),The Brown's restaurant, in Sacramento in 1919. AfterA trail in Italyhe returned with some of his brothers, openA French restaurant in San Diego, and they did what many entrepreneurians during the banned era went to Tijuana. There, he opened the Palace of Caesar.

A salad was born.

This is where Cardini claims to invent the salad of Caesar on July 4, 1924. As his daughter Rosa said later, the restaurant was packed with Americans ironically celebrating their day of independence in Mexico, in a style rather Boozy. His father was weak on supplies, then he searched in the refrigerator and gathered from what he had: the Roman lettuce, the eggs, the olive oil, the croutons and the sauce to the unemployed. He mixed everything together and the rest is the story.

Of course, the legends are rarely so simple and Caesar is not the only Cardini to decide as the initiator of the salad. His brother, Alex says he really did And named Aviator salad, while others say it was Alex himself who named him after his brother Caesar. Other stories put the UN on an employee named Livio Santini, who said the salad was actually the recipe of his Italian mother.

So, fundamentally, the beginnings of the Caesar salad are a little trouble, but whatever the true origin, the name of César blocked andCaesar's restaurant-Who is still in operation - capitalizes on the claim of glory. Later in life, he returned to California and, after a few other restaurants, finally focused on his cesar salad dressing bottle.

Hold the anchovies.

Of course, Caesar's salad has evolved over time. Although so-calledOriginally designed as food fingersThe restaurant began to prepare it for Telleide, which was a real success. And although anchovies are often considered a key ingredient in an authentic Caesar vinaigrette, apparently, Caesar himself did not see him in this way. Heargued This Worcesterstershire sauce was all that was necessary to lend the slightly salty salad, a taste of fish. However, you do it, all hail Caesar for (probably) inventing this satisfying salad.
