This grocery chain is continued for a false advertising on its seafood products

The trial asserts that "sustainable" labeled Atlantic salmon is not true.

Atlantic salmon sold in Aldi is labeled "simple. Durable. Seafood." But a new trialsays it's a lie. Toxin Free USA has filed a false advertising study against the grocery chain under the Consumer Protection Procedures Act, and hopes to terminate "misleading marketing".

Toxin FREE USA alleges that Industrial Fish farms in Chile that Aldi uses increases non-originating Atlantic salmon using non-durable methods such as net aquaculture. Thousands of fish are cluttered with pens in natural waterways, allowing a "free exchange of waste, chemicals, parasites and diseases", "The complaint says. A toxin, ethoxyquin, was found in ALDI products and is "systematically used as a preservative in the supply of industrial fish".

The complaint affirms that, despite this, it is always forbidden in some countries and, consequently, the Aldi can not claim that the Atlantic salmon is sustainable.
