This retailer quickly becomes the most popular grocery store for many Americans
Five years ago, you probably would not have assimilated this corner shop in a supermarket.
When urban dwellers are requested where they get their groceries,Dollar is probably one of the last places where you expect to hear on their list. Now, the experts speculate that the chain could even help propel the deployment of widespread vaccination.
A team of Yale University Public Health Teachers recently published a 34-page study predicting that the general dollar would be a key catalyst for ending the pandemic in America, according to theProgressive Grocery. How? 'Or' What? The retailer became the grocery store closest to millions of people living in the United States, with about 75% of Americans living within five miles of location.

The retailer has not yet disclosed whether or not it will join the federal retail pharmacy partnership program, which would allow it to distribute vaccines to many Americans in the most isolated locations. The program already includes grocery giants asCostco, Kroger and Walmart.
Dr. Rochelle Walensky, Director of Disease Control and Prevention Centers, recently stated that the agency sought to partner with dollar general stores. They believe that the massive footprint of the chain store could be their best shots to give Americans living in the most rural areas of country access to the vaccine. With the exception of four states, GENERAL DOLLAR stores are between 10 and 15 miles from rural communities, according to Walensky.
This means that there are more dollar general locations in the United States than Walmart, Kroger and Costco combined. The chain aggressively developed in 2020, opening more than 1,000 new stores and remodeling another 1,670 last year. This year, the retailer plans to open 1,050 new additional stores, from 1,750 of 1,750, and even moving 100 stores.
From 2020, the general dollar offered fresh produce in about 1,100 shopping locations. Now the company plans to add perishable products to about 700 additional stores by the end of the 2021 - a gesture that will undoubtedly increase access to healthier foods for those living infood desert.
