There is also a growing awareness thatAlcohol does not play well with mental healthIt is therefore logical that more people opt for alcohol-free drinks, even if they do not completely abandon alcohol.

For the virgin Piña Colada to be a healthier alternative to the loosened version of the rum, is not it? Not so fast: just because these drinks lack alcohol, does not necessarily mean better for you. Take the classic Shirley Temple, for example. The simple combination ofginger sodaThe lemon-lime soda and grenadine can argue about 44 grams of sugar. Yikes - it's more sugar than two whole kit kat bars, eight pieces of chocolate.

But do not despair. With some swaps notified at home or at the bar, you will sip a healthier model (and just as refreshing) in no time.

Fruit

When you search a drink at home, start with seasonal fruits.Marisa Moore, A dietitian and a nutritionist registered, says, "In general, the fruit offers a lot of natural sweetness. They also provide natural juices, so it's a good start." Freeze your favorite fruit bays, stone fruits and grapes - and blitz in a mixer with ice cream and a base of your choice, likeSoda Club. In a few seconds, you will have an effervescent and slightly sweet drink. Bonus points for these antioxidants and fruity nutrients.

It's easy to assimilate a sweetness with a flavor, especially if you have a sweet tooth. If you are worried about your drink with less sugar, count on herbs and spices to add a flavor thrust. Moore suggests using ingredients such as mint and basil, which add a pizza without calories. She also likes Ginger, saying "he adds a hint of spice, but also a little flavor, then you get the flavor, not a ton of calories."

To show creativity

You can also show creativity with your drink bases. Club Soda is great if you want bubbles, but do not forget coconut water, tea and coffee.Coconut water Gives you a hint of tropical flavor, while strengthening your electrolytes and reconstructing your magnesium. Tea is also a nutritious plant with polyphenols and antioxidants.

It may be tempting to use a preheated mixer - Many cocktail mixers can be used for cocktail grapes, just let the mind out - but be careful. Moore says, "Jump these, because you do not have much control over what is in them. Try to do "your drinks" from zero if possible. Not only are these mixers are generally high sugar, many are made with ingredients you "probably rather not in your drink (that is to sayFructose-rich corn syrup)

Judiciously

Things earn a little more delicious when you are outside in a restaurant or bar. Many menus now include a non-alcoholic cocktail section, but drinks on it can still be heavy on sugar with syrups and sodas. In this case, try building your own. Nic Vaughn, who works with Atlanta - based18.21 Bitters, says, "I think the key looks at the cocktail menu and see which ingredients are in the cocktails, then pull components from there." For example, if you like a cocktail uses ginger and grapefruit, a qualified bartender can use these items in a model.

The shrub, a drink vinegar made with fruit, is a zero proof rescue kettle. Shrubs, tangy and slightly sweet, mix easily with the club's soda for easy to drink model. And it is not difficult to find in the bars and retailers either, depending on where you want to enjoy it.

More importantly, Moore's wisdom words: "The last thing I recommend when people try to reduce the sugar content are to reduce sugar. Because sometimes drinks are too sweet." Do not be afraid to reduce the amount of simple syrup in a recipe - you can be surprised by sweetness.
