These are some of the most classified cafes, restaurants and food trucks in the country - and they are all managed by women.
This Sunday isInternational Women's DayWhich means it's time to celebrate all the women responsible for the world - all weekend. To help celebrate, our friendsin Yelp compiled a list of the top 10 women belonging to womenhealthy food country companies. Then we interviewed the owner of the best.
Meeting, Gabriela Simoni, the owner ofMate conmigo In Los Angeles, California.
"The main thing we serve here is Yerba Mate, it's South American green tea," says Simoni. "I'm learning new customers here at L.A. how we drink from the company to South America."
Yerba Mate is aherbal tea made from the leaves and twigs of a plant called,Lex Paraguariensis. Traditionally, Yerba Mate is brewed in a special ceramic cup called gourd and is then served with a metal straw.
Simoni grew up in Argentina, where she says that Yerba Mate is appreciated daily. She moved to Los Angeles in 1997, raising two boys and holding various jobs, the longest of whom was at the local post office. After crossing a divorce, she had an important decision to do. She wondered if she was going to be an employee orAn employer.
"I chose to be an employer," she exclaims.
On August 7, 2018, she opened her own business from scratch: The very first Materia of California, Mate Conmigo, who is a shortened way from Simoni to say, "Drink me with me" in Spanish.
