The most basic cake recipe ever

Ingredients

For the cake

2 eggs
1 cup of milk
1/3 cup of canola or vegetable oil
1 1/2 Coffee Spoon of Vanilla Extract
2 1/4 cups of all worn teased flour
1 1/2 cup of sugar
3 c. Cooking powder
1 C. TSP salt

For icing

4 c. Soup butter (softened at room temperature)
2 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
1/3 cup of milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Additional Toplings (Optional)

How to do it

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. For the cake, whip the eggs, milk, oil and 1 1/2 c. Vanilla extract in a large bowl. Whisk until everything is combined and it looks creamy, do not exceed or it will become hail.
  3. In another bowl, add the flour, sugar, cooking powder and salt. Whisk together to combine.
  4. Add the dry mixture to the bowl of wet ingredients. By using a rubber spatula, bend the dry ingredients in the wet ingredients, scratching from the bottom and move the dough up. Continue this motion until all the ingredients are incorporated. This mixing movement helps the lifting of the cooking powder. Think: Fluffy cake!
  5. Mix until there are almost no pieces. You do not want to mix this dough too much! The mixing process may take a minute, two minutes of top.
  6. Grease a 9 × 13 "depth pan with extra oil. You can easily do it by wiping oil with a paper towel. Pour the dough into the greased pot.
  7. Cook the oven cake for 40 minutes.
  8. While the cake is cooking, mix with icing. Whisk together softening butter, powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract in a large bowl.
  9. When the cake is finished, make a toothpick test. If a toothpick goes out clean, the cake is done! Let it cool completely before frost.
  10. Sprinkle with all the garnishes you desire, like rainbow sprinkles or chocolate chips!
