A major side effect of eating too much bread

According to a 2018 study published in the journalNutrients,common bread consumption is also associated with an increased risk ofHypertension.

To conduct their research, scientists from the National Institute of Cardiology Ignacio Chávez and the National Science and Technology Council followed a group of 2011 adult participants with an average mean age of 37.1 years. The study subjects who consumed a piece of bolillo or Telera two types of white bread - once or more per week had a risk of high blood pressure by 1.39 times higher than those who consumed three or bread less per month. However, the researchers found that consumption of whole grain bread was not associated with an increased risk of high blood pressure.

The researchers assumed that the sodium in white bread was probably a contributing factor to study the high blood pressure of the subjects, a reasonable assumption, given that the US Department of Health and Human Services'"What we eat in America" foundThe bread was the biggest source of sodium in the diets of Americans.

However, this is perhaps not the only way that bread consumption increases your risk of hypertension.
