If you have never heard of Alcatraz, there is a chance that you lived under a rock. It was once the most appalling place that a person can be on this earth. There has been no way to escape this place. At least 36 people tried to escape from Alcatraz. A beautiful day in June 1962, the story was made. 3 men headed for San Francisco Bay during their trip to the exhaust "The Rock". Nobody knew his location until January 2018 when the FBI had to re-open their investigation. Read on the details of how this impossibility is made by the 3 detainees ...
Message from John Anglin
It was like any other day of work at the service of the San Francisco Police. But they quickly received a very intriguing letter that day. "My name is John Anglin. I escaped from Alcatraz in June 1962 with my brother Clarence and Frank Morris, "read the mysterious letter. Alcaraz's escape has been one of the most puzzle and intriguing incidents are also taking place in American history. The police asserted that men died because of the icy waters, so was it all a lie?
The letter
This escape left perplexed officials for decades since their death. However, their questions will soon be answered to this fateful night, the sender claims to be able to reveal everything. So, was it all a lie or just another practical joke? The letter fell into the hands of the San Francisco Police Department in 2013 but has remained disclosed for years. Apparently, the police needed more evidence for the Federal Office of Investigations to reaffirm its investigation in January 2018.
Exhaust impossible
Alcatraz was infamous to be one of the most threatening prisons until the closing of the year 1963. The maximum security prison had been carefully planned to remove the most notorious criminals away from the rest of society. Many prisoners of Alcatraz have failed to escape the 29 years in prison because it was a maximum security prison. It was the strictest safety system at that time, so how was the procedure treated?
Planning
The exhaust plan was actually quite simple. An entire team will have to coordinate to draw means of escape. There had been several detainees who tried to get out of this hell hole. How was their plan different from all the rest that had failed to escape? In the past, it was 23 years old who were caught, six who had been slaughtered, two who drowned and two others who were judged "missing or presumed drowned".
So it started
The guys who designed the evacuation plan were John Brothers and Clarence Anglin, Frank Lee Morris and Allen West. The four men were placed in cells adjacent to Alcatraz prison and had a lot of time to make a master plan. In addition, John and Clarence Anglin knew the Lee Morris of their prison time in Atlanta. Now, in Alcatraz, they had to have to use all the resources and think together.
Frank Lee Morris
Frank Lee Morris, a criminal Mastermind had already escaped prison in the past. He was very intelligent and a very intelligent guy. At the age of 11, he was orphaned and was transmitted from one home home to another. Soon, he learned to take care of himself. Morris was first arrested at the age of 13. He was really intended to do something big. In fact, it would become the Mastermind and release it behind the great escape from Alcatraz.
Imprisoned several times
At the adulthood, Frank Lee Morris had been launched in prison a few times and finally held the penitentiary of the state of Louisiana, aka "Alcatraz of the South". Small that everyone knew this guy was about to reach something big. Frank Lee Morris had been arrested because of a bank flight where he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. However, he escaped! He was then captured committing another crime, but this time, he was sent to Alcatraz 'single prison.
Brothers
To accomplish a successful escape, you need a strong team. Frank Lee Morris then formed a team in Alcatraz called "The Rock". This team had two brothers appointed John and Clarence Anglin and a guy called Allen West. The Anglin brothers came from Georgia who then moved to Florida to work. They belonged to a family of seasonal farmers who made a move from time to time. Every year in June, the family would become on the north side of choosing cherries. This would serve as an advantage in Alcatraz.
Criminal competencies
John and Clarence Anglin were extremely close enough while growing up, but would become even more tight during their adult years. During their childhood, they would look for cherries every month of June, sometimes all the way in Michigan. The brothers enjoyed swimming at Lake Michigan and would have been excellent swimmers. This skill would prove to be useful in the years to come. In adulthood, the brothers of Anglin often flew banks. They were caught for the first time in 1956. It was only the beginning.
The group shape
As they served their time at Atlanta's penitentiary, the Anglin brothers made some attempts to escape. Their failure led them to be sent to Alcatraz, a maximum security prison. They became friends with Frank Lee Morris, the Mastermind of the team they formed together. And, with Allen West, the group of four was determined to make an escape from this infamous in prison. They soon escape from the "rock" with the help of a brilliant master plan.
Gather resources
The team had an advantage due to the fact that Alcatraz was not just a prison but also a factory. At the federal penitentiary, detainees had to do work, but "The Rock", some resources could be taken. The prison was simultaneously served the US military, creating furniture, clothes and shoes. These four men were lucky because they were incarcerated for non-violent crimes. This gave them some room to breathe because they were not under microscopic surveillance like other detainees.
Items
The gang quickly passed forward and took place with his plan slowly. Their plan was extremely complicated and ingenious at a certain level. They are now considering making an escape from the Grand Alcatraz. The plan was to leave behind human draws like a lure. The team should come out of the prison and get out of the island, without being noticed by the guards. The guards on Alcatraz were condemned to shoot anyone attempting to escape, they were a little ruthless compared to other prisons.
Lures
Team members each have a personal responsibility. They each had to stay discovered when they would be absent from their beds that night. The Anglin brothers had to keep their mannequins on gang empty beds. Their dummy heads were carved from soap wax, hygienic paper and real human hair they stole from the hairdressing shop in Alcatraz. Morris has been maintained to inflate vests to place in their beds.
Dig it
Together, guys had to create tools to dig their cells and unscrew the bolts that were on their vents. The team could do crèches and screws from the items they stole. They used the spoons of the cafeteria and the wood they took from the workshop. At 5:30 pm, up to 9 o'clock in the evening, men should spend time repelling holes that they would be able to crawl. They removed the vents from each chamber and the peaks were used to chisel the holes.
Alcatraz deteriorating
The advantage of this team was that prison was already falling in many places. The salt water ran and penetrated through the showers and dishwashers. Soon, the pipes and even the walls of the prison were saturated with saltwater and prison deteriorated slowly. This leak resulted in the erosion and loosening walls. The water was also a little hot so that the prisoners were not used to that because the Bay of San Francisco had frozen the cold water.
Noise
Well, if you think about it, you could probably guess that all the knocks and copy would cause a few noises, right? Well, they apparently did not do it. Penitentiary reforms in the early 1960s gave the detainees a chance to make music. They were awarded an hour of music so that the prison was a pest for noises. Morris played his accordion so hard that he stifles all the shredding noises. There was a utility corridor that was not kept behind cells with pipes up and down.
A jungle gymnasium
The utility corridor that you can say was a jungle gym unattended. If men could crawl n the holes that would easily lead them to three floors to get to the roof. There they would only need to get one of the great wells open to reach the roof. Most of these trees, their shock, had been closed with cement. They made use of a key to open one that was fortunately not cemented.
Pressure
In May 1962, the Anglin brothers with Morris returned through their walls in their cells. The holes they scratched were barely enough to crawl. They had to squeeze their bodies, but that was all that was necessary. They used glues and waterproof sewn together to make life coats and vests. They made use of 50 impermeable that actually helped them cross this cold water while escaping.
Gain the signal
It fell in place and it was now waiting for Allen West finished her evacuation hole. Then all four would be ready to go with their plan. Then the signal was received in June 1962 but their plan did not go as expected. On June 11, 1962, Alcatraz Allen West gave a signal to the other guys in the way his escape hole was done. But when he notified that he was ready, which took place was something none of them had been prepared.
Go into action
When it was time to go out light, the plan to escape Alcatraz soon fell into action. So, guys were able to get out of living prison and breathe? The mere thought could enjoy a free life on the prison walls was enough for these guys to try to escape. They were ready to sacrifice and put their lives on the line to taste freedom. Their lures have been placed that night and they are all out of their individual cells.
Strive
The Anglin and Morris brothers came out of the cells easily, but Allen West had difficulties. He had misunderstood how easy it would be to make the hole greater, thinking that he could fit easily. Frank Lee Morris gave a lot of effort to help the west, however, the cement was simply not moved. And at 9:30 pm, Morris asked west to give him a glass of water. Then they agreed that the West had to finally be left behind.
Leaving behind
Leaving the West behind was definitely a difficult decision for men as they had been together for months, planning escape. But what should they do? They could not make a racket trying to dig the West hole so that they just had to go ahead. So that was a blessing because the raft would be less heavy now than a person would be absent. From there, guys had to climb about 30 feet to get to the utility box.
Coming down
Morris and the English brothers could go to the roof rather quickly. They managed to cross 100 feet of roof, with heavy breaths and cardiac races. Then they started their descent. They then climb down, a 50 feet pipe on the side of the building that took them to the ground. It was near the shower room and they quickly spent their way in front of the guards. The team then moved to the shore after deceiving the guards. They should swell their raft and life vests.
Ring the alarm
It was the last time someone never saw Frank Lee Morris or John and Clarence Anglin. Then define a sail using their fortune raft at 11:30 at night to never be heard again. It was in the small hours of the morning that the prison realized that we lacked. Everyone has been awake because of the bubbling sirens. To try to get out of "the rock", was unprecedented, it confesses a lot of detainees. This place was considered impenetrable but the guys managed to go out ...
Outdoors
Allen West was not one to abandon too. He then completed the greater escape hole for him to integrate. And then he managed to do it. He was excited and quickly tried to catch up with the other three team members. West managed to escape his cell, but when he reached the roof of the prison, his friends had been left for a long time. He now had to decide between returning to his cell or risking his life to try to swim.
In the morning
Allen West had hesitant decided to come back to his cell in the morning after the discovery of his comrades of the detainees. In the morning, the officials were looking for missing prisoners with alarms that sounded everywhere. The West agrees to cooperate with the authorities but if he spoke the truth or not can be known. He revealed that they went to Angel Island where they would fly a car, steal clothes and separate.
The problem
There was a big problem out there though. There was no such voltage within 12 hours after the 3 guys had escaped. The big question was whether they had reached another place or if Morris and the Anglin brothers did not survive. The West also claimed that it was the brain behind this evacuation plan, that it was all its idea. The FBI was then called to investigate the fate of these 3 missing Alcatraz detainees.
Coldness
There was no body in the waters or waters of the bay the next day. However, there was a personal belonging that was discovered in the bay. The temperature of the waters while the guys escaped was about 50 to 54 degrees. The bay of San Francisco known for its cold water would have taken 20 minutes to damage an adult body functions. Inmates would not be able to survive freezing water when the prison was intentionally maintained at a hot temperature.
Study the currents
A Norwegian freighter gave a report to discover a floating body to 17 miles from Golden Gate Bridge after a month since the escape. The body had clothes with similar clothes that the prisoners of Alcatraz would wear. The body has never been discovered because the report has been deposited very late. After an in-depth investigation, this case was closed on 31 December 1979, 17 years after their escape. The FBI concluded that the men were drowned in San Francisco Bay.
A Christmas card
The chain of history claimed in a 2015 documentary that proves that the Anglin brothers had successfully escaped Alcatraz. Their family had received signed Christmas cards where their writing matches theirs. The Anglin family also received a photo of the two brothers who were apparently slaughtered in Brazil in 1975. The legal medicine experts concluded that it was "more than probable" John and Clarence Anglin. There was more floating evidence in the future near ...
Contact
There was another evidence that emphasizes the success of their escape. On his deathbed, a confession was made by one of the brothers and sisters of Anglin, Robert. He confessed to being in touch with John and Clarence from 1963 to 1987, then lost contact. The members of the Anglin family are prevented from looking for their brothers and sisters because their analysis is always an open interpol investigation. If they had to be found, many questions could be answered ...
Where was he?
The shocking letter of 2013, would have been from John Anglin, confirmed and rejected a lot of rumors. "Yes, we all did that night but hardly! ... I'm 83 years old and I have a bad shape. I have cancer." The letter wrote: "Frank died in October 2008. His grave is in Argentina under another name. My brother died in 2011. "In the letter, John also revealed where he had resided after going out of Alcatraz." It's the real and honest truth. I could tell you that for seven years of life in Minot, North Dakota and a year in Fargo, "he wrote. This next revelation was shocking ...
The Californian dream '
The letter that was supposed to inked by John Anglin ended with a simple, "living in the south of California now". Was it possible that the notorious criminal lived at a few hours from San Francisco? The writer of the letter named John Anglin was now on a sick bed and not even afraid to go back to prison. A strange request for an application of the unconventional law has been made in the letter ...
A deal?
In the letter. "If you announce on television that I will be promised to go to a prison for no more than a year and get medical care, I will write to allow you to know exactly where I am. It's not a Joke ... "was written. Before any agreement can be brought, the application of the law first necessary to investigate the letter itself. They needed to look deeply on what the letter contained, to see if there were more indices ...
Verification time
American marshals say that the FBI laboratory took the letter and had a thorough inspection. They checked to see if there were traces of DNA and comparing it to the writing samples they had there. And what did they discover? The local CBS television channel in San Francisco, KPIX, announced that "FBI's results were not conclusive." The FBI's response fundamentally "means yes, and that means no, so it leaves everything in the limbo". concerning the authenticity of this letter.
No rest 'up to 99
The service of the American marshals revealed that "it is possible" that the guys lived after the escape. The letter was published in January 2018 when a service representative informed the Washington Post that this letter was not legitimate. The same article wrote: "The marshal service has continued to investigate the prospects and stated that it will do so until men are deceased, or until they reach 99 years. " The FBI closed this case in 1979 and announced: "For the 17 years, we worked on the case, no credible evidence appeared to suggest that men were still alive, either to the US state. abroad. "
Answer of the American marshal
The letter was shown to the public to see after a CBS station in San Francisco, KPIX, gave a copy of an unnamed source. The American marshals responded to the publication of this letter. "There is absolutely no reason to believe that one of them has changed their way of life and has become entirely respectful citizens after this escape," said the statement. Remember that the American marshals had maintained this case open to the investigation so that their opinion has a subject. So what really happened?
A cold case
In 2014, a team of researchers used a computer model only if the three detainees were out of midnight, the chances of them surviving were high on the basis of waves and currents. What happened that night? "There is an active mandate and the service of the marshals does not give up the search for people", revealed Marshal Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Digue. There was still another information revealed ...
The last man on Alcatraz
The last guard who worked in Alcatraz, Jim Albright, had an interesting interview with the ABC Affiliate of San Francisco ABC 7 in March 2018. It was in honor of the 55th anniversary since Alcatraz. He had a very interesting point of view on the escape. "It depends on whether you talk to me or say to their mother. I think they drowned, I really do it, "Albright explained. He believes that the author of the letter is just looking for a way to do a treatment for his cancer.
The escapees now
So far, Frank Lee Morris's destiny, John Anglin and CLARINE CLARENCE is always a mystery. That they survived after their escape from Alcatraz or do not remain one of the most intriguing mysteries in history. Nobody certainly knows whether the real writer of the 2013 letter was contacted. John Anglin would now be 86, Clarence Anglin, 87 Frank Morris would have 90 years old. They would need to serve 10 years more, even if they are now old and wrinkled.
