Although the Second World War was just a matter of a few years, unfortunately, its consequences are a question of centuries. Thousands of civilians have left their country of origin and have taken refuge in different countries. People left everything they had, their jobs, their lands, their homes and the worst; their relatives. Countries can register peace treaties all they want, but what is done can never be canceled.
Most survivors of the war were the only on the left of their families. Whole villages disappeared in the blink of an eye. The life of anyone and to all those who were somehow related to the war lived in two fully opposite eras.
It's a story of these victims of the war that lost everyone without even knowing that they had ever had them.
Agitated teenager
George Skrzynecky, a 17-year-old teenager thought of a plan to find a way out of his parents' house. He did not like them, but his parents thought it was just the effect of hormones. In reality, he never felt it was his house and he blamed his parents' dominant behavior. However, he had this strong sense of frustration of a long-term forgotten childhood memory.
The old attic
George was looking for all the alternatives to leave Poland because it will give him the opportunity to start a distinct life away from his controlling parents. In 1965, when looking for his old business, the 17-year-old George found a mysterious envelope in the store. So far, he was not sure if he was ready to leave his homeland, but this letter was going to change everything for him.
The change of life rating
The envelope seemed quite old and was posted when he lived on a different address with his family. There was a long letter inside the envelope and his surprise, she was addressed to him. Who could have sent him a letter at the time? And if someone sent him one, why did his parents ever speak to it?
Confused questions
George was confused as well as curious about the letter. While he started reading this letter, tears started rolling in his cheeks because all his questions were being answered. He could not stay and collapse on the ground yet he just could not leave the letter. He went to read it and then he read it.
Troubling truth
The letter contained the troubling truth in his past. And all that had been kept a secret of the young guy. He knew he could not stay with his parents after reading the letter. He went directly to his room and packed his business so he could no longer live there. He walked to his parents and showed them the letter.
Outgoing
No matter how George's parents tried to explain to the young teenager, he was not going to remain calm after the sudden revelation. He did not ask them other questions and I just left the house. What was in the letter? And who was this letter?
Mother's efforts
This letter was written almost 15 years ago, in 1950 by a woman named Elisabeth Jankowski, the organic mother of Geroge. In the letter was his story and what she had to follow to keep him alive. George has never been informed of being an adoptive son. And the most upsetting part of this letter was about to keep 17-year awake at nights for the next 50 years.
Back when it all started
A young beauty
Born September 25, 1919, Elisabeth Jankowski was only 14 years old when Hitler began to gain power over Europe. The daughter of Polish origin, however, remained far from the effects of the war until the separation of the Second World War. She lived peacefully in the protection of her parents who watched the war without impotence on their way too.
An American soldier
The life of Elisabeth normally passed until 1944 when one day, an American soldier entered his life. So far, Elizabeth lived on the outskirts of the war region and the appearance military men's battalion was displayed a few kilometers away. Without a doubt, they have become a center of attraction for the girls of the age of Elisabeth.
Love life
Somewhere in the midst of all this chaos, Elisabeth could find the love of his life. Not only has it fallen in love but also planned to marry the man she loved most. However, the plans of destiny were not at all similar to what it had in mind for itself. Unfortunately, she never had the chance to present the guy she loved her parents.
Short-term love
The love of Elisabeth took leave for his duty called him. Although he promised him that he would return to marry her, this promise was broken with the sad end of man. Elizabeth only received the news of his death during the war and the heartbreaking part was that she had not even had time to cry the loss of her darling.
The Nazis are getting closer
So far, Elisabeth's family lived safely but just after painful news, the war welcomed the city of Elisabeth. The Nazis were against the whole non-Aryan population and there was no way for anyone to cross the borders and reach a safer place. People have been caught inside their own houses where they waited for German soldiers to hit their doors and take them to their camps.
Move in the hiding place
In no case escape to the left, some ran to the woods, some people died who expand their voices and some like Elizabeth turned into a stash with their families. Elisabeth was not yet settled with the loss of his beloved and she had to live horribly with her family in a small suffocating zone.
The cache plane has also failed in a week of a week because the information in their location have been disclosed and have been arrested by the Gestapo.
Separated from all
Forced labor camps
The words were already out and everyone was talking about the terrible and frightening stories of these concentration and work camps. Sooner or later, all met the same terrible end. There were a significant number of survivors of this war and undenomrable life were lost. Elisabeth also thought it was the end of her ...
Fit the fitness test
As soon as Elisabeth was standing in the queue, she could hear people to speak they will be selected by the so-called doctors if they are sufficiently able to work, otherwise they will be sent to Auschwitz to famous rooms of gas . Elisabeth was sent to the labor camp but she was happiever to be more alive because there was no reason for her to live.
Get sick
In a few weeks of life in the forced labor camp, Elisabeth falls ill. It is when she understood the possibility of her pregnancy. There were these extremely tiny and dirty care centers where Elisabeth had confirmation of his doubt. Unfortunately, she did not feel good about it for even a moment.
The news of pregnancy
Once the news of his pregnancy has been confirmed, Elisabeth has been suggested to abort the child or child will not live more than two hours anyway. There was no soft corner in the hearts of SS soldiers for babies. Elisabeth, however, decided that she does not address but his baby will live?
Dealing advice
Elisabeth was criticized by all the women of the camp for his decision to keep the baby. They told him how the Germans will not let his baby live, but she had already made her choice and now, there was no return from there. Little savage she knew, she will never have the chance to live with her children.
The dark future
In a place where people have had a piece of bread and soup once a day, Elisabeth worried about his child's future. Had never thought that his child will be born in what they started calling death camps. But this pregnancy gave it the long reason for living and thinking of a future out of this labor camp.
Serious illness
In the first trimester of her pregnancy, Elisabeth had trouble working. And when she entered the second trimester, her health started deteriorating quickly. The bad diet and intense work carried it quickly. The doctor also tells her that she and her baby might not survive. And it was at that time on September 2, 1945, the long-awaited news came.
The war ends
It was the news of the collapse of Nazi Germany who released the survivors of the camps and Elisabeth was one of them. Like most victims, Elisabeth also needs immediate need for medical attention. For her, the pregnancy has aggravated the situation. Even though the first thing she wanted to do was looking for her family members, nurses admitted her to the hospital.
The scars of the past
In the hospital, Elisabeth did everything she could have found her family lost for a long time, but nothing helped him. The pain of separation does not help his health at all. The nurses tried to tell him how blessed she was to survive the infernal environment with her living children. At least now, she did not have to worry about her security of her unborn child. Elisabeth made his peace with this fact but his struggles were far from over.
Give birth to freedom
Elisabeth's only happiness was that her child will be born at liberty. She was kept at the hospital for the rest of her months of pregnancy. And Elisabeth finally had work on January 1, 1946. After listening to what doctors told him during his work, Elisabeth could not hold his tears.
The double surprise
Elisabeth was twin pregnant and she gave birth to two insufficient boys, Georg and Lucian. The mother and boys were kept at the doctor's observation hospital. Even before the single mother can even learn to live a stable life, in 1947, Elisabeth's life took another and the last round for the diagnosis of critical heart disease.
Who will take care of children?
Elisabeth's only concern was his sons. In his absence, there was no one to take care of them. Since the hospital, she has contacted the Red Cross that took responsibility for boys while their mother fought with her illness. For his misfortune, it was the last time she held her babies in her arms.
The intervention of the Red Cross
Poland
The heart of Elisabeth becomes more weak day after day and looked at the mere chances of survival, children were transferred to the city of Katowice, in Southwest Poland. Later the same year, they were given to an orphanage in Rybnik, Poland. All this transition took place without informing Elisabeth because she was not in a situation of worrying for her sons.
