Now everyone has heard about terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday, November 13th. 7 The coordinated terrorist attacks took place this night in Paris, taking the lives of at least 129 people and leaving many wounded. It was a horrible and sad night for France. In the days following the attacks, many surveys and raids took place. Some suspects found, the connections made, the people arrested. The country tightened its borders and announced 3 days of mourning for those who were killed in attacks. In the light of these events, François Hollande, President of France, delivered a speech to Versailles, in front of the high and the bass houses of Parliament. He started the speech of "France is at war".
The whole world has been saddened by these events. Although governments are trying to address this tragic situation, we, citizens, feel a little helpless. The only thing we can do right now is to convey our condolences to those who have lost their loved ones and show our support. People around the world have shown that their support is different different ways. Some brought flowers to the French Embassy, candles lit. Social media has also made a big part in this, with hashtags #PrayForrsParis and #PeaceForrsPoris Trends on Twitter and Instagram, everyone sharing the image of thePeace Peace of the Eiffel Tour TowerCreated by Jean Julien in reaction to Paris attacks. YouTube has changed, it's logo to a French flag to show the support, Facebook offered a French flag overlay option for the profile picture for the same reason.
In many countries, monuments or historic buildings have been enlightened with the tricolor of the French flag to show support.
The London Eye Enlightened with the colors of the French flag
The City Hall of San Francisco enlightened in support of France
Of course, there were, of course, some people who began to blame Syrian immigrants. It's shocking for me that anyone blamed people, trying to flee the war. Why would they disrupt peace in a different country? It just does not make sense.
There were also these, too fast to judge and blame all Muslims immediately. It is incredibly stupid people to judge anyone who is based on their religion. It's even stupid to compare each Muslim to a terrorist. Islam is the second largest religion of adepts. According to statistics, more than 1.6 billion people adhere to Islam. It's 23% of the world's population. Does anyone seriously believe that 23% of the land population are terrorists? It's completely absurd.
Sydney Opera House with the French flag projected on it.
However, it is always hopeful that those who are quick to judge and that the fingers are in the minority. The type of supportive support we are recently assisted gives me hope. It is good to see that in such tragic moments, we can all groups together and support each other. Let's hope that everything will be good and France perseveres. Speaking of perseverance, the Eiffel Tower has been enlightened, after closed after the attack. It has been enlightened in the colors of the French flag in honor of the victims of attacks. The Currency of Paris 'Fluctuate Nec Mergitur', which means "mixed but not cruel" was also striped on a section of the tower. It's the spirit, Paris. Our thoughts are with you.
