Caitlyn Jenner, born as Bruce Jenner, October 28, 1949, is an American Olympic track and a field athlete who won gold for the United States at the 1976 Olympic Games. She then played in several Films and, in particular, was often presented with Kardashians while married to Kris Jenner.
At this point, it's no longer "new" than Bruce Jenner became Caitlyn Jenner, but the discussions around the woman do not seem to die. On Monday, June 1, 2015 in the blink of an eye and some tweets well timed, the world was presented in Caitlyn Jenner - a courageous, inspiring and extremely strong woman. The fact that Bruce Jenner has identified as a woman since April, when Bruce talked about her gender dysphoria, came out like a trans woman, and told 20/20 magazine that she felt this way from the small childhood. The 20/20 interview revealed that Bruce had already undergone a hormonal replacement therapy in the past, but decided to stop after meeting Kris Kardashian in the early 90s.
When Caitlyn Jenner introduced himself and launched a Twitter account under his new name, she won 1 million disciples in just over four hours. This allowed him to create a new Guinness world record. Formerly (just one month before), the file belonged to Barack Obama, who won 1 million disciples within four and a half hours. The huge amount of memes and jokes around Caitlyn has generated many Twitter robots that aim to inform and correct those who use the bad sexospecified pronouns when they talk about Jenner.
Since Monday, many notable people have expressed their opinions on the transformation of Caitlyn.
Lavante Cox wrote a long post on his Tumblr on the importance of acceptance and support. Its position reflected on the idea that trans women are still subject to standards of cisnormal beauty and, because very few people who identify as trans have the means and opportunities Caitlyn had, it is important to be open, acceptance and support of all persons (trans or otherwise) regardless of the way they look.
Many stars have also chosen to show their support through social media. The whole Jenner / Kardashian family, Lena Dunham, Anna Kendrick, Emmy Rossum, Lady Gaga, and many other stars took on Twitter and Instagram to share their support and acceptance of Caitlyn.
Other stars and news services were boldly served by political ciderprint, abusing gender pronouns, insisting to call Caitlyn by his former name and showing a general contempt for the wishes and desires of Caitlyn Jenner. In particular, Drake Bell (old Nickelodeon Show Star Drake & Josh) tweeted "sorry ... always call me Bruce" and has received a remarkable amount of reviews for this tweet.
And, of course, various media resources immediately accepted Caitlyn as a woman and began to treat his personality as such - forget his notable athletic past and choose to focus only on his physical appearance because it seems to be the only thing that account in women anyway.
These are the basics that should usually keep you in the buckle with the water cooler of your desktop, but if you really want to know it, I would recommend reading Laverne Cox (which is available on its official tumblr) ; Verification of Jon Stewart's Pan about media, sexism and Caitlyn Jenner; and research on what Fox News had to say about the question, as it will help you see both the big, the good and the terrible and square aspects of the news reports and the transactivity of the United States today .
In July 2015, a documentary series in 8 parts on the transition of Caitlyn Jenner will be the Prime Minister of E!. The series will be called "I am Cait", will feature interviews with Cait and its close friends and will reveal more information about the transition process.
